Babies, babies. everywhere

My most recent ultrasound was quite special. And also totally unplanned. I was able to get it at my mom's work (she is a nurse) and it was a really awesome experience to have her in the room with me as we watched the baby on screen. It was dancing quite a bit and I was astounded by the length of its legs. It definitely got those from Nick. we're still not finding out the sex, and regardless of what you may think, I was told by the tech that there is no indication in the photos one way or another. But you can keep trying.

In other new, I am seeing babies everywhere. And I don't just mean actual infants, but suddenly, I am viewing every human being as a former fetus. This morning as I was riding the bus with a bunch of college students, I couldn't help but think that at one time, each one of them was in someone's belly, and if they were lucky, that someone cared for them, watched their changing body with awe (and terror) and could not wait to meet them. I really wanted to tell each of those kids to get out their cell phones and call their mother.
